Non-accessible content

The public sector body has categorised the non-accessible content on this website. Each category may contain a number of topics, which are presented with headings and explanatory text. An example of such a topic could be missing alternative text.

Non-accessible content is divided into three categories and concerns functionality or content that:

  1. does not comply with the Danish Web Accessibility Act.
  2. Does not comply with the web accessibility law and falls under the exemption for a disproportionate burden, e.g., a report or guide that is very extensive and has a small readership.
  3. is not covered by the Danish Web Accessibility Act, such as the captioning of live-streamed videos.

Not compliant with the Danish Web Accessibility Act.

The functionality of the website

The website has been evaluated using input from the Siteimprove analytics system. Aarhus.dk, which uses the same general website template as this site, was selected by Digitaliseringsstyrelsen for in-depth monitoring in 2025. Based on the findings of this monitoring, ongoing improvements are being made to the general website template and shared components. Further information about specific known issues and planned remedial actions can be found under the section entitled “Does not comply with the Web Accessibility Act”. It is the responsibility of each editor to ensure that the website’s content complies with accessibility standards, including the correct use of heading structures, meaningful link text, and the lowest possible readability score consistent with clear communication.

Photos

Despite thorough training of editors in the rules for accessible content, it cannot be ruled out that images that are important for understanding the content appear on the site without alternative text. We are, of course, continuously working on quality assurance of our content.

Files

Despite thorough training of editors in rules for accessible content, it cannot be ruled out that files in PDF or other formats appear on international.aarhus.dk that do not have the necessary structure attached and therefore do not meet standards for accessible content. Despite providing thorough training to editors on the requirements for accessible content, it cannot be ruled out that the website may contain PDF files or files in other formats that do not have the necessary structural elements in place and therefore do not fully comply with accessibility standards. If you require a file that does not meet the applicable accessibility standards, you may request that it be converted through our partnership agreement with Abledocs. To make such a request, please send an email to kommunikation@ba.aarhus.dk. In your email, please include a link to the file or files you require. Please note that processing times may vary depending on the size and complexity of the file.

Videos

The Aarhus Municipality video platform supports accessible subtitles and an accessible media player. However, we cannot rule out the possibility that some individual videos may be published without subtitles. If you encounter a video that does not include subtitles, please contact us at kommunikation@ba.aarhus.dk, and we will arrange for subtitles to be added to the video in question. Certain aspects of the media player, including colour contrast and some functionality, do not yet fully comply with accessibility requirements. The supplier has planned corrective measures, which are expected to be implemented by the end of 2026. Content on hover or focus in the video player: Some functions within the media player display content that cannot currently be dismissed without moving the mouse pointer. The supplier has been informed of this issue and is working on a solution.

Self-service solutions

Missing link to reading option

The website does not include a built-in text-to-speech function. We refer users to the guidance available on borger.dk regarding text-to-speech options, which can be accessed via the following link: https://www.borger.dk/hjaelp-og-vejledning/hvad-har-du-brug-for-hjaelp-til/borger-dk/teknisk-hjaelp/oplaesning-af-indhold

Language code in content

It is not yet possible to correctly mark up language in all text fields within the CMS. This is expected to be resolved in connection with an upgrade to a new version of Umbraco during 2026. Until then, you may encounter isolated instances where words in foreign languages are not marked with the correct "long" attributes.

Dropdown components and form fields

Work is underway to improve labels, instructions, and the correct programmatic specification of name, role, and state, including within search fields and search suggestions. These issues are expected to be resolved by the end of 2026.

Contrasts and visuals conditions

Work is ongoing to improve certain contrast ratios in user interfaces and content.
